Progressive Slots RTP- What Is It?

Progressive Slots RTP

Are you interested in knowing about the Return to Player or RTP? Find all the details here.

In the case of online slots, the RTP or return to Player percentage allows the gamblers to understand the payout and house edge percentage while helping them to choose an ideal slot game with a better chance of winning. But, in the case of an online progressive game slot, the RTP is different from a regular slot game.

Progressive slots come with two different RTP- base RTP and Theoretical RTP. If you want to ace the progressive slots, you must understand the difference between them and how they are interrelated.

Base RTP

The payback or return to player percentage after the first seeded jackpot is called base RTP in progressive slots. In simpler terms, the reward percentage awarded to the player before the jackpot increases are called the base RTP.

In most cases, a progressive game slot comes with low to medium range base RTP. You can find progressive slot games with 75% to 90% base RTP.

The Base RTP allows you to find a more straightforward outlook of the whole payment procedure and offers a realistic outlook. Base RTP is a practical approach that gives you information on how much you can win without added jackpot reward.

In the case of Base RTP, a higher rate means you will get frequent smaller payouts in between the jackpots. Hence, you get more chances to increase your bankroll without exhausting your resources.

But, most of the online progressive slots usually come with medium Base RTPs. Hence, you may get a few smaller payouts in between the jackpot.

Theoretical RTP

The progressive slots usually have complicated procedures for collecting the jackpot. It happened because a portion of your bet is added to the jackpot, making the latter bigger with each spin. Du to this, theoretical RTP is often used. The theoretical RTP is a mathematical hypothesis based on the fact that “jackpots remain theoretical until you win it.”

In most progressive slots, players assume a range of theoretical RTP as it involves complicated calculation. Here is a simple example,

Consider you are playing a progressive slot of 90% base RTP. The first jackpot award is $1000. Then the progressive slot prize goes higher up to $100000. As per theoretical RTP, this game has an RTP of 95%.

Here the base jackpot or seed jackpot amount is $1000. It goes higher up to $100000. You can deduce the theoretical RTP using this growth of the jackpot.

Since it is a theoretical assumption, there is nothing like a progressive slot that offers a 100% payout range. It is because winning such a high amount of jackpot or grand jackpot is a once-in-a-million or billion chance event. Hence, you will only find progressive slots, usually with a theoretical RTP of 90% to 92%. It may not offer you a realistic approach like the Base RP, but it helps you deduce how far you are from the grand jackpot.

Conclusion

Due to the changing nature of jackpots in progressive slots, it requires two different RTPs. You can consider the base RTP as a player if you play for a shorter period. On the other hand, you also need to consider the theoretical RTP if you are eyeing the jackpot.
